GPS on the whole is a use of a satellite and GPS devices to receive timely and reliable information and to track an object or person on earth or near the surface of the earth. In 1973, GPS was created and comprehended by U.S. Department of Defense and was initially used for military applications only. However, in 1980, government made GPS available to civilians also.

Global Positioning System is beneficial in finding routes and directions. It is also useful in knowing the shortest path to reach the desired destination. Moreover, it was not easy for everyone to read and understand map directions. Now, with the introduction of GPS, it becomes easy for one to reach the destination quickly, easily and timely. Irrespective of the weather conditions, GPS woks effectively and provides accurate information. GPS has made our journey exciting, hassle free and adventurous.

Data loggers, data pushers and data pullers are three basic types of GPS trackers available. Use of GPS is no more restricted to navigational only. GPS is now used in precision agriculture, fleet management, Marine operations, public safety & disaster relief, animal safety & anti-poaching etc.
